More Information: https://www.crfj.org/appel-a-candidatures-aide-a-la-mobilite-internationale-ami-crfj-2024-2025-date-limite-28-fevrier-2024/
E-mail Submission: laurence.mouchnino@cnrs.fr
The French Research Center in Jerusalem (CRFJ) offers international mobility grants (AMI) for research stays in Israel and Jerusalem. Candidates must be enrolled in a research master's degree or a PhD at a French university or in the European Union, or be post-doctoral researchers with a PhD from a French university or the European Union. In the case of master's or doctoral students, the reason for the stay must be agreed with the laboratory and the doctoral school to which they are attached. Postdoctoral candidates must be non-tenured and under the age of 40. No nationality criteria apply. All disciplines of archaeology, humanities and social sciences are concerned, provided that the research dimension is apparent. Having already been a beneficiary of an AMI is not eliminatory. Applications must clearly show the justification for a stay in Israel or Jerusalem (fieldwork or laboratory work, surveys, documentary resources, etc.). The topic may relate to a region other than Israel and Jerusalem, provided that a research stay in Israel or Jerusalem is justified.
CEIs are awarded for a period of 1 month (minimum) to 3 months (maximum). The aid consists of a monthly allowance of 1200 euros net, the reimbursement of a plane ticket between the candidate's administrative residence and Tel Aviv (in economy class, up to a maximum of 500€ round trip), and the reimbursement of an insurance contract (up to 100€). The allowance is not considered as a salary, it does not give entitlement to social benefits or unemployment benefits and cannot be taken into account in the calculation of pension rights. Before the start of their stay, beneficiaries must take out an insurance policy covering civil liability, health expenses, occupational accidents, assistance and repatriation with the mutual insurance company of their choice. They must also have a mission order with or without charge, drawn up and validated by the security officer of their institution, which they send to the CRFJ no later than 15 days before the date of their arrival in Israel. Beneficiaries are attached to the CRFJ for the duration of their stay. They must reside in West Jerusalem, participate in the scientific activities of the CRFJ and submit a summary activity report on the last day. Beneficiaries have the option of renting a room at the CRFJ, subject to availability and at their own expense.
Applications must be submitted by 28 February 2024 inclusive. They will be assessed by the laboratory council and the scientific council of the CRFJ. Candidates will be notified of the results by April 30, 2024. Beneficiaries will then contact the CRFJ to plan their stay, which must take place between September 15, 2024 and July 31, 2025. The stay must be continuous and cannot be broken down into segments.
Candidates must send, to Laurence Mouchnino (laurence.mouchnino@cnrs.fr) and by electronic means only, before February 28, 2024 inclusive, a single document in pdf, of no more than 8 pages written in French or English, and containing all the elements of assessment of the application, organized and presented at the candidate's discretion. The single document will include in particular: the necessary biographical information and the applicant's academic and/or research background, an indication of the academic or scientific background in which the stay was carried out, as well as the names and contacts of the supervisors (in the case of master's and doctoral students) and the institutions and/or teams to which they are attached, the presentation of the candidate's research project and the reference bibliography, the desired dates and duration of the stay, the course and methodology of the work envisaged during the stay (including the places and institutions, any contacts already made). The candidate may optionally include in the same document (within the limit of 8 pages) any other document that he or she would like to make known to the experts, such as his or her CV or list of publications, the summary of the thesis, a letter of recommendation from a supervisor, etc. The single document may include illustrations and hyperlinks.
