line 8- 'and every oth[er(?)] tree'
and not, as Cross has it
'when he fulfills (his oath) to the community'
Further, Yardeni has a very good couple of excurses where she shows her
reading of the letters in question, as well as Cross's. For example, where
Cross sees a yod, Yardeni sees a nun (and rightly so!). Where Cross sees a
chet, Yardenis rightly reads an aleph.
The 8th (critical) line, as proposed by Y- is
wkwl'yln 'h = (chet).
Again, this article is really clear, precise, and much more convincing, on
mere orthographic grounds, than Cross/Eshel.
Best,
Jim
