As long as we are discussing wishes (esp. impossible ones), what I would
dearly like to read is a description of the Qumran group written by
someone whose brother went off and joined the community, taking his share
of the family property along. That would be a truly different perspective,
whether or not one agrees about Qumran=Essenes. We have such accounts for
later communist groups (e.g. the Shakers) and they are eye-opening in
contrast to the usual praise of piety written by insiders. 
Hope this is not too far off the Kuhn-Popper line of discussion.
