How about a proposed modification?  The Alexander Jannaeus-ites
were maybe not interested in ideological apologies for the former
Maccabees/Hasmoneans whom Alexander usurped.  Qumran, of
course, is an Alexander Jannaeus site, so those Alexander
Jannaeus supporters at Qumran would, by definition, legitimately
be called Qumranites.  So there's really no disagreement here.
