orion-list [ Holy - "Separated Out" ] vs. [ Assembly - "Called Out Ones" ]
To the Hebrew Scholars Amongst Us:
Below is the URL for the Perseus Greek on-line dictionary. With the
dictionary I made an effort to connect the Greek word for Assembly to
the Greek word for Holy. While the structures of the two words are
obviously different, the meanings seem to be quite related.
Since I am not a Hebrew scholar, I am hoping someone on the
ORION list can attempt to accomplish the same thing in Hebrew.
I wouldn't be surprised if the same cognate links apply. And with
a Hebrew and Greek parallel, it would be easy to see how the
DSS root word ***'esah*** (for Council or Assembly) might be
linked to "holiness" and the term "Essene" as the ultimate pun.
Unless you have something of interest to the Orion list,
feel free to email directly to me at:
George.X.Brooks@JUNO.com
I am sure the ORION moderator would very much appreciate that.
