Listmembers,

Simm's confidence intervals assume a normal distribution.   If the
distribution were mound shaped, for example,   two sigma would only indicate
a 75% confidence,  3 sigma an 89% confidence.  So I don't think the
radiocarbon dating evidence is conclusive.    An 89% confidence would
perhaps include the contested date.
