Stanford University, Department of Religious Studies, invites applications
for one (and possibly two) tenure-track position(s) in the field of
Judaism
at the rank of assistant professor. Applications are welcome from
scholars
in any sub-specialty of the study of Judaism. These might include Hebrew
Bible, Second Temple period, rabbinics, medieval philosophy, kabbalah, or
Jewish religious thought and/or practice in the early modern or modern
periods. The person(s) appointed will be expected to interact with
faculty
and students who work in a variety of fields and methodologies, to teach
general as well as advanced undergraduate courses, to teach graduate
seminars, and to help direct dissertations. Term of appointment would
begin September 1, 2000. Applicants should send a cover letter, c.v.,
names
and addresses of three references, and writing sample by October 1, 1999
to
Arnold Eisen, Chair, Department of Religious Studies, Stanford University,
