I recall years ago hearing a lecture in which Yigal Yadin compared what I
think were fragments of *Tallit*s found at Qumran with the cloak that
Abraham is depicted as wearing (particularly the curious L-shaped
markings) in the Aqedah portrayal in the Byzantine mosaics at San Vitale
in Ravenna. Does anyone know if Yadin published this discussion and where?
Or any other bibliography on the subject -- my main interest is in
Abraham's cloak (being a Tallit) in the San Vitale Mosaics. There is an
interesting midrashic source that describes Abraham as wearing a Tallit
when he was about to sacrifice Isaac on Mt Moria (Gen. 22).
Many thanks for any assistance.
