I am not sure whether one can say that an animal's "flesh should blessed "prior to use, as Stephen Pfann seems to suggest. The Hebrew blessing prior to ritual slaughter does not sanctify the object ( the animal ) but expresses thanks to God for performing a religious obligation. Frank Rosenthal
