In an article in the current issue of ZDPV (just arrived today), Roland
Bergmeier suggests the equation in the subject line above.
The title of the article is "Die Leute aus Essa", and is divided into 5 parts:
1- Problemskizze
2- Eine vergessene Alternative
3- Gerasa (Essa) in der Dekapolis
4- Hirbet Qumran, das Zentrum der Leute von Essa
5- Das Asyl in Essa und die Neugruendung des Essenerzentrums in Hirbet Qumran
This article should be perused by all wishing to 1- establish the etymology
of the word "essene" and 2) understand the roots of the essene movement.
