No doubt this would be useful information.  But we need to remember, of
course, that the Cave 7 fragments are 1] few and 2] small.  Are there any
of the fragments from which the removal of sufficient material for testing
would not result in destruction of a significant fraction of the fragment?

Indeed, among the more [in?]famous fragments --e.g. 7Q5-- it's hard to see
how such samples could be taken that wouldn't destroy some of the actual
characters on the fragment.
