1QM and the pesharim appear to be replete with code words. If Kittim
refers to the Romans, say, then it amounts to a code word drawn from
Biblical phraseology, since Kittim is apparently no longer being used
for the people group for whom it was originally a designatory term.
However, this is only restating a well worn idea in different terms.
We can probably get too hung up on the idea of code words in the
Scrolls.
