orion 4 Q Sam a at 1 Samuel 17:12-31

Dear Friends,

This may be an issue long ago resolved, but I need some information 
concerning 4 Q Sam a at 1 Samuel 17:12-31.  In The Story of David and 
Goliath (Orbis...No. 73), Lust, Tov, Gooding and Barthelemy discussed 
the shorter and longer accounts.  Either Lust or Tov (I do not have 
the book in front of me) suggested that it was his belief that 4 Q 
Sam a probably followed the LXX Vaticanus reading which omits the 
verses in question.  Has this been verified by Cross or elsewhere?  
If is has not yet been so verified or denied in print, is it possible 
to deduce that information from columnar length and number?  How far 
are we from the publication of DJD vol. 6(?) which will show the 
photographs?  This is certainly a crucial matter for textual and 
rhetorical analysis of the passage.
