orion Stephen Goranson on facts

The following are touted by Stephen as facts:

>that Pliny located Essenes where Qumran is,

he has consistently failed to show this

>that Essene texts were found there with Qumran material culture, and

he has consistently failed to show this

>that the remains are communal.

this is vague enough for hedging.

Stephen then goes on to say:

>Additionally, Golb errs in asserting that the broad range of Jewish
>texts are present at Qumran. E.g., Pharisee texts are not (and there is no
>use of the word "halakah," but there are negative puns against it). Also, I
>and 2 Maccabees are not.

I think he's trying to say that books such as Enoch and Jubilees, the now
canonical books, the testaments, the yahad texts, texts in two dialects of
Aramaic and three dialects of Hebrew aren't a broad range of Jewish texts.
