Re: DSS in Hebrew, not in Rashi Script



Well, to continue Avigdor's thread, there is one valid reason for 
calling the DSS script in question an "Aramaic", rather than a 
"Hebrew" script, which is, that generally Aramaising tendencies are 
discernible in the scripts of the southern Levant towards the second half 
of the 1st millennium bce, as, for example, in Edom. To call this 
"Hebraising" would be to assign to "Hebrew" culture (whatever that 
could possibly mean)  an influence on the surrounding region it did 
not clearly possess. (Which doesn't mean that it did not exercise 
such an influence; merely that it would be difficult to demonstrate 
it).
