Well, now there is a truly open-minded and scholarly approach! It is
certainly fair to express his opinion that Durant may not be the most
reliable source and encourage students to view his comments, if unsupported
by other source material, as suspect. What is the next step, do we have book
burnings? It seems to me that, as a high school student from the 1960s, I
would have used Durant HEAVILY and cross-researched for support or refutation
of any suspect conclusions. . . . but then, that's why I had to go into the
