Political Geography
Friends,
Geography is inherently political. No designation may be placed upon
any land without some kind of political consequences. The thought that
this might be done without offending someone is absurd. If we want to
talk about what are now called Jews, let us call them Jews despite the
fact that this refers to Judeans. If someone wants to be more specific
than that let them use more specific terms. Call them the Jews of the
Western Levant or the Jews that lived in what is now Israel. If we want
to refer to the people of the territory, let us refer to the people and
not the territory.
