Re: "Love" in the DSS
---------------Original Message---------------
Some additional evidence in support of H. Manhoff's observations. It may
be observed that in Targum Neofiti ( and other targums as well perhaps)
the biblical expressions concerning "love for God" are usually translated
e.g. "you shall love the Torah of God" etc. In Judaism love seems to be
directed to Torah, not to God.

It baffles me how anyone can reason that a group of 13th-16th century CE
forced converts to Christianity, secretly trying to retain their Judaism,
represents Judaism or some widespread transition. It also amazes me that
you would represent that Jews somehow manage, in our keeping of miytzvot,
to avoid the first commandment. As Harry Manhoff observed, Jews view the
expression of love as manifested through obedience to r'tzono (His
Pleasure) - Tzeddek. Anything else is hypocritical.
